So it’s the time of year the cider and wine get’s put away at our house and the cream liqueurs come out! We do like a little evening tipple at home and there is always one thing we head for in December – Baileys (or cheaper Irish Cream). I love this stuff it’s like liquid gold after a long day, especially for my better half who works outside all day. Normally we just have a little splash (haha I’m lying) in a glass over ice. However I thought I’d do some research into other options after having a Baileys hot chocolate at Bury St Edmunds christmas fair. Well I have found so many nice recipes I thought I’d put them into a little blog post for you.
Today I have a little foodie review for you. On Saturday Night we went out for date night to Benson Blakes Bar & Grill in Bury St Edmunds. On arrival we were greeted by lovely waiting staff who were dressed all spooky for Halloween. We were seated straight away and had time to browse over the menu. For drinks I thought I would go with one of their Hard Shakes as I like to choose something new when given the choice. Hard Shakes are alcoholic milkshakes, I went for the Salted Caramel shake and Matt had a Corona.
Hey Lovelies, as you all know summer has long gone and the blissful autumn is well and truly here. Although there are many things we treasure from the colder seasons like pumpkin spice everything, golden leaves and Christmas time there is always that one thing missing – the sun!! The sun along with bringing us lots of summer memories also boosts our vitamin D levels. Vitamin D has many amazing benefits to our health and wellbeing including helping us stay happy, low levels are often seen in people that are suffering from depression. Now i’m not going to suggest we all run down Holland & Barrett and pick up the closest pack of Vit D pills although this is fine too. I’m instead recommending lots of foods riveting with the stuff and ways we can incorporate them into our autumnal eating. I wish I could have created my own recipes for you but I’m not that creative in the kitchen, instead I have provided links to some amazing recipes by the pro’s. So get in that kitchen and turn that frown upside down 🙂
Today I have a mini review on the recently opened Byron Burger in Bury St Edmunds. We went on a Sunday afternoon, it was heaving we had a small 5 minute wait which was a lot shorter duration than we expected to wait. The waiters/waitresses were all very polite during our booking and waiting. We sat down in a comfy booth and ordered drinks nothing exciting here I’m afraid, OJ for me and Matt ordered a fresh lemonade but they were out, so coco cola it was. We did later clock that everyone else was trying delicious looking milkshakes (next time) 🙂
Everyone deserves a time out and last weekend we had a fabulous one at Congham Hall http://www.conghamhallhotel.co.uk/ it was gorgeous. The location was perfect in the silent bliss of the Norfolk countryside. We stayed for one night in one of their Good House Rooms complete with king size bed, lovely waterfall shower, Nespresso machine and all the other good stuff.
We were in the building about 15 minutes before jumping into our gown and slippers and heading down to the spa. The spa consists of a swimming pool with jets that are like a water masseuse, sauna, steam rooms, foot spa’s and experience showers (I recommend the tropical rainfall – it makes thunder sounds and everything -crazy). The highlight of the spa for me though was the outdoor hot tub which we were lucky enough to have all to ourselves. It overlooks the beautiful grounds of the hotel, you can see the rabbits hopping around. It was relaxation at it’s prime.
Nearly time to return to work but not before sharing some of the things I got up to this Bank Holiday Weekend. Friday we went to The Making of Harry Potter at Warner Bros. Studio’s, this was part of my birthday present from my lovely boyfriend. I will just say now I adore the Harry Potter franchise, so this day out to me was the bee’s knees of a day trip. I just can’t get over how much goes into the production of these films. The day was spent boring Matt by explaining every feature of the tour in-depth, which film it was in, who wore it etc. Here are a few of my highlights….
